With COVID19 and the lockdown situations prevalent worldwide a lot of businesses have come under threat, specifically small independently-owned restaurants and mom & pop shops. Restaurants already run on very tight margins and turning a profit is already difficult even in a healthy economy.
The reality is that bigger chain-restaurants have a little more capital to play with and are more likely to survive compared to the small restaurants but the future still remains unclear. What is clear is that restaurants are going to need help to survive.
If you have a favourite restaurant that you would like to keep visiting in the future then support them by ordering take-out or buy a gift card for use later. If the government is not supporting your restaurant then call your representative and tell them why they need to help.
Five things you can do to support the industry we love:
#1 Order take-out from your favourite spot
#2 Offer to buy a gift-certificate from a restaurant for later use.
#3 Buy cookbooks from your favourite chefs
#4 Buy restaurant merchandise
#5 Write a letter to your local government demanding support for restaurants in your area.
